Day 3 and 4

Day 3
So the last few days have been crazy to say the least. Friday morning Gaby and her family woke up @ 5AM to watch the Mundial - World Cup! I woke up at 7:30 to join them and it was fun. and GOOOOOOOOOAL!

So for breakfast? Homemade Menudo of course! Now, I know this is not part of our diet but it was so good and we only ate half of our bowls - mainly because it was really hot and by the time we could eat it, we were actually full, haha.

We also improvised our workout by walking the streets of TJ from Gaby's house to her Aunt's house which is a couple of miles away. It was an hour and a half roundtrip and a good walk.

We got swamped with getting ready for her uncle's wedding and missed lunch! We had like maybe a few bites of chicken and rice but that's it.

Cut to 6 hours later at the wedding, we finally ate dinner at the reception. It was good and small portions of chicken, salad, and a little dessert. Again, small portions, good food. Plus our second workout of the day was DANCING the night away in heels! LITERALLY till like 3AM and we were sweating!

We finally got to bed around 5ish completely exhausted.

DAY 4

We woke up still exhausted and had chorizo and beans for breakfast. Gaby had menudo. We then ventured to Puerto Nuevo later on in the day for lunch. They are known for their amazing seafood and it's right on the ocean. Gaby and I split the lobster which came with rice, beans, and tortillas. We had ordered a shrimp cocktail too but didn't finish it.

We walked around the little town and ate some roasted peanuts and coconut for dessert - so FULL! And not part of our diet but when in Rome...

We had dropped off Gaby's aunts and cousins nearby at pool party right along the beach in Cantamar. We met up with them and of course cheated by having some birthday cake. And by the time we got back to TJ it was around 9:30 and still so full so no dinner.

So this is not ideal without eating and working out plan but we will have to double or triple our efforts when we get back to the States....

Adios from Tijuana!

Day 2 - Update

Ok so while Gaby and I were on the road, we had our scheduled snack @ 6pm (running a little behind). It was a whole banana, yay.

We crossed the border around 8:30pm and came to Gaby's house right in the middle of Tijuana!! Her family is awesome and even though my Spanish skills are muy bad, I feel extremely welcomed.

And with that, we had to bend our rules because Gaby's grandmother made a delicious Mexican meal of rice, beans and meat. She's also been cooking menudo all day and will continue during the night and the morning to get it just right for tomorrow. And this is BEFORE the wedding and its feast later tomorrow night.

I can't wait.

We're gonna try to do some sort of exercise tomorrow morning but who knows. Most of the people here are waking up at 5AM for the World Cup, el Mundial! So I'll be up no later than 7am. Viva Mexico!

Hello, this is Gaby. So, yes my family is loud and revolves around food which make this even more difficult. Not to mention that 5 minutes after we where done with our dinner, my cousin Becky asked if we wanted to go to eat TACOS! Almost caved, luckily I had Debra at my side giving me the NO WAY eyes. Maybe tomorrow??? This is gonna be hard!
VIVA MEXICO!

Day 2

Day 2

Today we hit the ground running! Gaby and I woke up @ 8AM per our schedule. The night before, we measured EVERYTHING on ourselves and posted it up on the fridge for us to see. Also we put up pictures of who we want to look like: Penelope Cruz for me and Salma Hayek for Gaby. That way, every time we even glance at the fridge, we see their perfect bodies and our unsatisfactory measurements! It actually works! And it makes us focus.

So this morning we ate 1 sunny side up egg with a side of fruit: grapes, blackberries, oranges and a strawberry. By 8:45 we were done eating and started our first morning workout of the day: 20 minutes of AB Jam and an hour of YOGA for Athletes.

I’m sore but feel really good physically and mentally. We had a delicious stuffed green bell pepper with meat inside that Gaby cooked with a side of Indian Basamti rice for lunch. And we have decided to ask ourselves whenever we eat: “Are we still hungry?” If not, them guess what? We STOP eating! This way we don’t stuff ourselves rotten and eat just to eat. So we ended up only eating HALF of the pepper! NOTE: This is VERY hard to do. I’m not FULL but not hungry either and it’s so hard for me to stop eating when something tastes so good.

We had the leftover fruit from breakfast to satisfy our sweet tooth.

It is now around 3pm and here’s a new challenge: Gaby and I are heading to MEXICO for 5 days for her uncle’s wedding in Tijuana! How to work out and stay good with all that yummy Mexican food? I’ll let you know.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Ok, today is Day 1. Me, along with two of my best friends, Gaby and Sphen have agreed to lose weight and get our dream bodies. We figured out our average weight range we should be in based on our height and frame size here: http://www.healthchecksystems.com/heightweightchart.htm and here: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/body-fat-calculator/body-fat-chart.php and here: http://www.zonediet.com/Tools/QuickStartGuide/tabid/108/Default.aspx

For me, my goal is to lose 7 pounds. I currently weigh 130lbs. Hopefully I'll lose more, but that's my goal by July 11th. That's about a month which seems reasonable. However, I am visiting Texas for a week and a half @ the end of June for my birthday. This means AMAZINGLY unhealthy fatty foods I've been waiting a year to eat! But I WILL have my queso and eat it too. AND lose the weight....

Ok, so here's our plan:

1. Wake up @ 8AM
2. Eat breakfast from 8AM - 8:30AM
3. Workout for 1 hour and a half - Ab workout and Yoga
4. Eat Lunch @ 12:30pm
5. 2nd Workout for an hour and half
6. Dinner @ 7pm

This is a skeleton outline of our day. Basically we want a morning and afternoon/night workout EVERYDAY! No eating ANYTHING after 9pm, no beer, and only 1 drink if necessary at a bar.

We'll let's see how it goes! Wish us luck!
